Designed to install at the top of the cylinder. With the engine not operating, oil would be poured into the lubricator, the valve opened and oil allowed to run into the engines. This valve cannot oil under pressure although it will withstand the pressures of an operating engine without problem. Overall height of the lubricator is about 1 1/8"
